RIGHTEOUS
ADDICTION TO FITNESS & HEALTH
Fit For Him was born through a righteous addiction to fitness and health, and a heart with a passion to serve others. My fitness journey began in high school when I weighed 90 pounds and was first introduced to the weight room. For the past 13 years I have added another 90 pounds to my short frame and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in fitness and nutrition. When people started to notice my transformation and began asking me for advice I looked for a way to do so that honored God. In an effort to integrate faith and fitness I began sending out daily workouts and bible verses that have continued over the course of the past seven years. Throughout that time I enjoyed competing as a natural bodybuilder while earning degrees in biology and nutrition, and now look forward to beginning my Dietetic Internship to become a Registered Dietitian. While my experience and knowledge in the worlds of fitness and nutrition have grown, so have the followers I have gained who share a similar desire to pursue a healthy lifestyle that seeks to honor God. Thus spurred the idea to create a community for believers who pursue common goals of faith and fitness, called Fit For Him.
God has been left outside the weight room doors far too often. We get wrapped up in this vain pursuit of perfection, perfecting our physical appearance and seeking acceptance and attention from others. The mission of Fit For Him is to bring God to the center of this often self-centered lifestyle, to use our shared passion of fitness as an avenue to expand the Kingdom of God. I have found the gym to be a surprisingly opportune venue to be a light in this clouded industry and spread the love of God. Fit For Him embodies the realization that God belongs in every aspect of our lives. The gifts we have are from him and it is our calling to use those gifts to share his love, even through the simplest act in a most uncommon setting.
Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of the varied grace of God. Whoever speaks, let it be with God’s words. Whoever serves, do so with the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God will be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen. - 1 Peter 4:10-11
In our health and fitness goals we strive to obtain the peak of our physical bodies. Through Fit For Him our purpose is to stir a spiritual awareness of our health and fitness endeavors that may provide an avenue to further God’s kingdom.
For physical exercise has some value, but godliness is valuable in every way. It holds promise for the present life and for the life to come. - 1 Timothy 4:8
